I was going through a rough relocation due to a divorce and a bullying situation with my son and caring for a loved one. Ms. Edwina gave me the support and confidence I needed at such a vulnerable time in my life. The staff was professional, reliable and very involved. I wanted the pastries of the Sweetness of Faith at my daughter's 1st Birthday Party. They turn my party into a charity event and I donated half of the proceeds. To my surprise I had received a personalized invitation to an annual Humanitarian Award Ceremony, I was recognized for my donation and received a really pretty bracelet, a t-shirt and met some amazing people to say the least. Stori's truly is amazing...

Stori Vanotoo

Business Owner/Chief Executive Officer, International Pastry Chef, Conflict Resolution~Life Coach/Therapist & Stylist

I was born in West Africa, Ghana to be exact. I moved to the United States at age 3. I traveling the world and saw a lot of good and bad things very early in life. I also experience violence, the divorce of my parents, rejection, betrayal, hatred and rape. It was decided for me to stay with my father's cousin in Reston, Virginia where I developed the knowledge of proper English, Pose, Glamour and Essence. I returned back to my mom after some time had passed, with courage, charisma, determination and the ability to adapt to any situation just like a chameleon.

My mom use to take me to school with her when she attended college at Temple University in North Philadelphia, PA. I felt empowered to see my mom overcome her violent struggles and graduate with four children as a single parent, in a country that was foreign to her. She beat adversity without family support because all her family was back in Ghana. My mother is the oldest of 13 children and the first to come to America. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Science of Nursing in 1993. Bill Cosby was the main speaker. I was excited to see my mother graduate and accomplish her dream of becoming a United States Citizen and a Registered Nurse. I was determine to achieve my goals but at times I felt empty and lonely due to rape, so I had my first child at 16years old. I graduated from Overbrook High School as scheduled June 16th, 1998. I developed maturity, self-esteem and a sense of purpose which help me explore my abilities from different points-of-views. My daughter is 21 years old and studying to become a Psychologist for the "Special Victims Unit." It was hard work and I made a few mistakes along the way but it taught me to change Broken into Beauty and to "Pray Until Something Happens." This is the legacy behind "Sweetness Of Faith, P.U.S.H. and No More Silence To Any Type Of Violence." I created my organization in part of AVP to inspire others to make something that could be broken, beautiful. "It takes one person to start a movement but it takes us all to start improvement."

My life experiences taught me how to inspire myself and others to look for the silver lining in every situation~Broken Beauti. I had my son at age 21 and suffered a tremendous amount of Domestic Violence. I thought to myself this can not be love, something is wrong. I became brave and found my voice, decided that enough was enough and walked away it was challenging being a single parent of two. I had my mother's strength; she made sure of it too. She instill positive morals inside of me and I saw a glimpse of her strength early on in life and realized I needed to implemented it into my life and focus on my own self growth and worth. I needed a change of scenery, a vacation of some sort. I ended up in the Bahamas and found out that I love my own company and it is people who accept me as I am. I then set out to explore Europe and learn about my family's history. I have family in every country I ever visited except the Bahamas. My first stop was United Kingdom, London. I was shown so much rejection but that did not stop my show. My second stop was Dublin, Ireland. I discovered laughter. My thirdly, Munich Germany, I learned to be delightful, Austria was where I learned to soar to new heights. I discovered that life is what you make it and then I went back to Germany but this time I set out to Hamburg. I found my independence and set out to visit Paris, France then I realized that I am my own "Hero" and love was with me all along ooh la la, I was looking for it in the wrong places. Then I heard Whitney Houston's song. "The Greatest Love Of All." I knew it was confirmation from the LORD that I would and cold survive I just had to develop integrity and a FEARLESS SOUL towards him and not letting the worldly view of how things should be take over my mind. I embraced Islam as well I discovered the LOVE of the LORD was my strength. My final stop was Zurich, Switzerland and elegancy took over my life. I arrived back into the United States in 2009, got married and had my third baby.

I have a passion for fashion so I attended Universal Beauty Schools to become a cosmetologist to gain the knowledge to style the public. I attended Thompson Institute of Philadelphia and became a Medical Office Manager. I was known for speaking my truth so I continued my education and majored in Communication Speech at Community College of Philadelphia and partnered with Alternative To Violence Project (Alternative To Violence Project which is a non profit organization that helps build strong communities around the world so I am mobile. (www.avpusa.org) AVP sponsored my education at Haverford College. In May 2017 I finished my educational obligation and became a Stress Management Consultant better known as a LIFE COACH/THERAPIST. I brought my ideas to AVP and began to train business professionals how to approach and resolve conflicts creatively and non violently. Since 2013, I have been offering my elegance and style to Alternative To Violence Project www.avpusa.org because I know first hand how violence comes in many forms. Physically, emotionally and mentally. My primary goal is to strengthen our communities by impacting the lives of the individuals who we help. “We try to eliminate that negative voice that's constantly telling people that they are not good enough, and that the big mouths are always right and the good ones are always wrong,” We are here to introduce different forms of "Violence." No one deserves to let rude people ruin them. No matter how much negativity is thrown at you by others, there is absolutely no need for you to stay put and partake in the decay they choose for their own lives. You determine how your soul grows. The truth is that what people say and do to you is much more about them, than you. People’s reactions to you are about their perspectives, battle wounds and experiences. Each one of us has a choice. Regardless of what you’re going though, it’s about choosing: Will I allow this to upset me? Will I choose to make this bad or good? Will I choose to stay or walk away? Will I choose to yell or whisper? Will I choose to react or take the time to respond? You CAN always choose an attitude that moves you forward. And doing so will help you change things from the inside out, and ultimately allow you to grow beyond the struggles you can’t control. Let us help you shine in a creative, healthy way. This is a FREE service to those who qualify so contributions are recommended but not required to attend depending on your eligibility. Every first Friday from 11am-3pm you can come in to register for up coming workshops at the West Deptford Public Library. Contact me for more information.
